I finished watching "The Expanse". It's a good soft Sci-fi that transitions into politics, drama, and 202x-type monologs.

I really enjoyed the first space TV Series to actually treat gravity, and space mechanics mostly correctly. Gravity equals acceleration. That's the basics. And it works quite well.

Without spoiling anything, I'll try to give you my opinion on the movie itself.

Season 1

A lot happens, but nothing happens. Too many characters introduced, too much mystery, nothing is connected, no clue what's happening, but a lot seems to be happening. I only got it properly by the end, or the beginning of Season 2

Season 2

Shit happened. And shit is really bad. The veil is off, things get understood far better, shadow figures come out, and the viewer finally gets some idea about what's going on. Some sci-fi techno babble, sci-fi intrigue, and mysteries peeking from underneath the covers.

Season 3

Finally the politicians are getting that shit has happened, and continues to happen. Betrayals, backstabbing... This season is like Game of Thrones. Very little sci-fi, and a lot of politics.

Season 4

The big scary thing has changed and not so scary any more. But there's another scary thing seemingly completely unrelated to everything else. Same characters, different universe. You could've made Season 4 a complete other TV Series, and it wouldn't need any connection whatsoever with the other content. Really. No need for anything else. Season 4 just doesn't belong here.

Season 5

Plots get re-united, but now it's a depressing story about corruption and decadence. Instead of sci-fi, we're now observing a cyberpunk-style jobless lawless world, and new assholes trying to do really bad stuff. At this point I'm only watching because of curiosity, but I got no joy from any episode. So much so that it got me depressed and I couldn't fall asleep because of bad thoughts from this. Or maybe it was winter and SAD. I don't know, but there was nothing optimistic or good about this season.

Season 6

That's it! Everything is gone, the biggest scumbags rule the universe, people act completely irrationally. Holy hell I thought my previous depressive season was bad, but beginning of Season 6? Holy hell! I went to sleep hoping that every fictional character there would just get vaporized. The second half of the season takes a sudden turn, things start going well, and then a few ass-pulls at the very last 10 minutes of the series, and they all lived happily ever after.

...

What?

<rant>

So many undeveloped Sci-fi plot threads, like that little girl and her little brother, with those dogs and birds, the completely undeveloped story about Red vs Blue "glows" (I'm trying to avoid spoilers, badly), the missed family re-unification of the prodigal son and his mother, etc.

They could've done so much good in the last season. They could've explored SO much Sci-fi, to make it truly a Sci-fi series, but they went with the long touchy-feely monologs and pity trips instead.

I'd rather have my artificial gravity on phasor-shooting saucer star ships, that actually talk about techno babble that gets to be whatever the spectator's brain wants to be. I'd trade this out of place hyper-realism, with whatever they were actually doing in Season 2.

If you plan on watching it - stop at Season 3. Nothing good happens afterwards. It's like it's catered to people who spend their time on smartphones instead of watching it.
